Add MOV files
Choose one or more non-empty .mov files up to 100 MB each. The server checks the extension and size before each conversion.
Free online MOV to MKV converter
Add MOV videos up to 100 MB, then create a new H.264 MKV from the first video stream and optional first audio stream. Each completed file is available as its own download.

Supported files
Add a MOV up to 100 MB. Fileverses creates a new MKV with its fixed server-side FFmpeg profile; download and test the result in the destination that needs it.
How it works
Choose one or more non-empty .mov files up to 100 MB each. The server checks the extension and size before each conversion.
Jobs run sequentially on the server with FFmpeg. The fixed profile encodes the first video stream as H.264 and, when present, the first audio stream as AAC in a new MKV.
Download each completed MKV separately and test it in the player or service that needs it. Output size, quality, and playback support depend on the source and destination.
Limits and output
The route maps only the first video stream and optional first audio stream, removes metadata and chapters, and has no trim, resize, stream-selection, or quality controls.
Convert MOV to MKVThis route accepts non-empty .mov files up to 100 MB each. The server-side FFmpeg installation must also be able to read the selected MOV.
The result is not a container-only remux: it is a new MKV with H.264 video and AAC audio only when a first source audio stream exists. The fixed profile uses libx264 CRF 23 with the medium preset and AAC at 160k.
The route maps one video stream and at most one audio stream. It removes metadata and chapters and does not preserve subtitles, attachments, alternate tracks, or original codecs.
There are no trim, resize, crop, stream-selection, codec, bitrate, or per-file quality controls. Final file size and visual or audio results are not guaranteed.
MOV to MKV FAQ
The route accepts non-empty .mov files up to 100 MB each. FFmpeg on the conversion server must also be able to read the selected MOV.
A successful result is a newly encoded MKV with H.264 video from the first video stream. If the MOV has a first readable audio stream, it also contains newly encoded AAC audio.
No. The route re-encodes rather than copying source streams: video uses the fixed H.264 profile and audio, when mapped, uses AAC. File size and visual or audio detail can change.
No. The fixed profile maps only the first video stream and optional first audio stream, and removes metadata and chapters. It does not preserve subtitles, attachments, alternate tracks, or original codecs.
No. This route offers no trimming, resizing, cropping, stream selection, codec, bitrate, or quality controls.
Yes. Add multiple supported MOV files. The server processes the queue sequentially, so each successful file receives its own separately downloadable MKV result.
Not necessarily. Output size and compatibility vary by source and destination. Test the download in the player, editor, or service that needs it.
The conversion code creates a temporary server directory for each job and removes it whether conversion succeeds or fails. Do not treat this as a long-term file-storage service.
