PSD is a Photoshop working format that can contain layers and editing structure; PNG is a single raster image format. Fileverses cannot open a PSD upload, so first export the intended composite from Photoshop or another compatible editor. Once you upload that raster image, the browser re-encodes its displayed pixels as PNG—useful for a flat asset, but not a way to extract layers or recover source data.
- PSD is not directly browser-decodable in this converter; export the chosen composite as PNG, JPG, WebP, or another supported image first.
- PNG output is lossless for the browser-decoded raster pixels, not a byte-for-byte copy of the export you upload.
- Alpha can remain only when the exported raster and browser decoding provide it; this workflow cannot create transparency or remove a background.
- PSD layers, masks, smart objects, editable text, blend modes, color profiles, and metadata do not transfer to the flat PNG.
- Each upload must be under 50 MB and the decoded image must be at most 12 megapixels; PNG size can be larger or smaller than the source.

Does this converter open PSD files directly?+−
No. Export the PSD composite to a browser-readable image first. The conversion path only rasterizes supported image files.
Is the PNG output lossless?+−
PNG encoding is lossless for the pixels decoded in the browser. It cannot restore detail already lost in a prior export or preserve the original PSD bytes.
Can I export individual PSD layers as PNG files?+−
No. Choose the desired layer visibility in a PSD editor and export that composite before using this tool; Fileverses has no PSD layer controls.
Will my transparent background remain transparent?+−
It can remain only if your exported raster actually contains decoded alpha. The converter does not remove backgrounds or add transparency.
What image limits apply?+−
You can queue up to 50 files of up to 50 MB each. Any image that decodes above 12 megapixels is rejected.
