Free online ICNS to ODD guidance

Make an ODD from an ICNS iconwith an extraction-first handoff.

Fileverses does not decode or accept ICNS uploads, so it cannot convert an ICNS file directly to ODD. First use an ICNS-aware utility to extract the icon representation you need as PNG, then add that PNG here to package it in a minimal one-page ODF drawing ZIP on your device.

About this converter

Free ICNS to ODD conversion, built for a real workflow.

ICNS is a macOS icon container that can hold several icon representations and sizes; ODD is an OpenDocument Drawing package. Fileverses recognizes ICNS but rejects it at upload because the browser conversion path does not parse the container, choose an icon entry, or extract artwork from an application bundle. Use an ICNS-aware utility to export the representation you want as PNG at the final pixel dimensions, inspect that PNG, and then upload it here. The ODD writer creates a minimal store-only ZIP containing mimetype, META-INF/manifest.xml, content.xml, one drawing page, and one embedded entry named Pictures/image.png. It uses the uploaded PNG bytes and places the image at its decoded pixel width and height. This is a narrow raster handoff—not direct ICNS decoding, editable drawing reconstruction, vector recovery, layer preservation, or a promise that every ODF application will interpret the minimal package alike. Keep the original ICNS and test the download in the receiving application before delivery.

How it works

Upload once.
Export ODD.

01

Extract the intended ICNS icon

Use an ICNS-aware utility to choose the representation you need and export it as PNG at the required pixel dimensions. Fileverses cannot decode the ICNS container, select an entry, or extract an icon from an application bundle.

02

Add the extracted PNG

Drop, choose, or paste the PNG and keep ODD selected. Check the image first, stay within 50 MB and 12 megapixels per file, and keep the original ICNS for other icon sizes or future use.

03

Download and verify the package

Create the minimal one-page ODF drawing ZIP locally, then open it in the exact receiving application. Check the embedded image, dimensions, placement, compatibility, and final file size before sharing.

Made for real pipelines

ICNS to ODD.
One workspace.

Convert without uploading your assets. Switch outputs anytime — web, print, icons, and document targets from the same batch.

Package an extracted ICNS icon as ODD
01

Clear ICNS prerequisite

Start with an ICNS-aware export to PNG because this browser tool does not decode ICNS containers, choose icon entries, or inspect application bundles.

02

One-image ODD handoff

Create a minimal one-page, store-only ODF drawing ZIP with one embedded PNG—not reconstructed artwork, vectors, editable objects, layers, or a full document authoring workflow.

03

Verify before delivery

Work within 50 files, 50 MB per file, and 12 megapixels per decoded image, then check recipient-app compatibility, image placement, dimensions, and final size.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Can Fileverses convert an ICNS file directly to ODD?+

No. Fileverses rejects ICNS uploads because its browser conversion path does not decode ICNS containers, select an icon representation, or extract an icon from an application bundle. Use an ICNS-aware utility to export the intended representation as PNG first, then package that PNG as ODD here.

Which ICNS icon representation should I extract?+

Choose the representation whose pixel dimensions suit the recipient and inspect the exported PNG before upload. This page does not choose among ICNS entries, crop an icon, or restore detail from a small or soft representation, so keep the original ICNS if you may need another size later.

What is inside the downloaded ODD file?+

It is a minimal store-only ZIP with a mimetype entry, META-INF/manifest.xml, content.xml, one drawing page, and one image entry named Pictures/image.png. For the recommended PNG input, that entry contains the uploaded PNG bytes and is declared image/png; it is placed at the decoded PNG dimensions.

Does this create an editable ODD drawing or recover vector artwork?+

No. The workflow places one raster image on one drawing page. It does not reconstruct editable text, paths, shapes, vector art, layers, separate ICNS representations, or source history, and it cannot recover detail lost before the PNG extraction.

What limits and file-size behavior apply?+

You can queue up to 50 extracted PNG files, each no larger than 50 MB. Each image must decode in the browser to 12 megapixels or less. The ODD writer uses a store-only ZIP and adds XML and archive overhead, so the download is not guaranteed to be smaller than the PNG.

Will every ODF app open the file, and are extracted PNGs uploaded?+

Do not assume every ODF application will interpret this minimal package alike; verify the downloaded file in the exact LibreOffice Draw or compatible recipient workflow. For supported extracted PNG inputs, Fileverses packages the file in your browser without sending it to a conversion server.
