Supported files

M4A in. WAV out.

M4AWAV

Add M4A audio files up to 100 MB each. Fileverses creates a new WAV result with this route’s documented conversion profile; review the completed download before using it elsewhere.

How it works

One queue. A new WAV file.

01

Queue M4A audio

Choose one or more non-empty .m4a files up to 100 MB each. Each queue row keeps its own playable source audio preview.

02

Create WAV audio copies

Start the queue to have FFmpeg map the first readable audio stream from each M4A and encode it as a new PCM signed 16-bit little-endian WAV.

03

Listen and download

Inspect every completed WAV in the queue, then download that separately named audio result.

Limits and quality

A new WAV file, with source-specific trade-offs.

Each result is a newly encoded PCM signed 16-bit little-endian WAV, not copied M4A audio. WAV can be substantially larger than its compressed source, has no promised output size, and cannot recover earlier audio detail.

01

M4A sources with audio

This route accepts non-empty .m4a files up to 100 MB each. The selected file must be readable by the host FFmpeg installation and have a readable audio stream.

02

New uncompressed PCM WAV

Each result is a newly encoded PCM signed 16-bit little-endian WAV, not copied M4A audio. WAV can be substantially larger than its compressed source, has no promised output size, and cannot recover earlier audio detail.

03

First audio stream only

The profile maps only the first audio stream, removes source metadata, and excludes video. It does not preserve alternate audio tracks, subtitles, attachments, chapters, original codecs, or metadata, and has no trimming, sample-rate, channel, or bitrate controls.

M4A to WAV FAQ

Questions, answered.

What M4A files can I convert to WAV?+

This converter accepts non-empty .m4a files up to 100 MB each. FFmpeg must be able to read the M4A and find a readable audio stream for conversion to succeed.

What does the downloaded WAV contain?+

A successful result is a newly encoded WAV with PCM signed 16-bit little-endian audio. It contains only the first readable audio stream from the M4A.

Can I convert several M4A files at once?+

Yes. Add multiple supported M4A files to the queue. The browser submits one real server-side conversion at a time, and every successful row receives its own WAV player and download button.

Will the WAV be smaller or recover original quality?+

No. PCM WAV is uncompressed and can be much larger than M4A audio. The new encode cannot restore detail lost in an earlier source, and the final size depends on the source and encoder output.

Does this keep alternate audio tracks or metadata?+

No. The profile maps only the first audio stream, removes source metadata, and excludes video. It does not promise alternate-track, subtitle, chapter, attachment, original-codec, or metadata preservation.

Can I choose WAV settings or trim the audio?+

No. This route has no trimming, stream-selection, sample-rate, channel, bitrate, or quality controls. It uses its fixed PCM signed 16-bit little-endian WAV profile.

Are files kept after conversion?+

Each source and output exists in a temporary server directory only while its conversion runs. The directory is removed whether the job succeeds or fails.
