Add your GIF
Drop, paste, or choose a GIF under 50 MB. It stays in your browser; for animated files, plan for one still output rather than playback.
Free Online GIF-to-PNG still export
Make a PNG still from a GIF in your browser, with no account or upload to a conversion server. An animated GIF becomes one browser-rendered frame, not an animation. The browser losslessly encodes the decoded canvas pixels as PNG; it does not recover detail or motion that the GIF did not retain.

About this converter
GIF can contain a timed sequence, but this route draws the browser-decoded GIF to one canvas and exports one PNG still. For an animated GIF, the result is a single browser-rendered frame: it does not retain animation, loop timing, a frame sequence, frame selection, or frame extraction. PNG is losslessly encoded from those browser-decoded pixels, which is useful for a still-image handoff, but it is not a byte-for-byte copy of the GIF and cannot restore colors, sharpness, or detail already limited by the source. Because PNG is exported without alpha flattening, decoded transparent pixels can remain transparent. That does not remove a background or create alpha: an opaque GIF stays opaque. File size depends on the rendered pixels and PNG encoding, so the download is not guaranteed to be smaller than the GIF.
How it works
Drop, paste, or choose a GIF under 50 MB. It stays in your browser; for animated files, plan for one still output rather than playback.
PNG is ready for a lossless export of the browser-decoded canvas pixels. Existing decoded transparency can carry through, while an opaque background stays opaque.
Create the PNG locally, then check the captured still, transparency, dimensions, and file size in the app or site where you will use it.
Made for real pipelines
Convert without uploading your assets. Switch outputs anytime — web, print, icons, and document targets from the same batch.
Create a PNG still from GIFTurn one browser-rendered GIF frame into a still image for a place that needs a PNG—not animation playback or a frame sequence.
PNG encoding preserves the pixels on the browser canvas without a lossy quality setting, while staying honest about source-detail limits.
Decoded transparent pixels can carry into PNG; this tool does not remove a background or invent transparency for an opaque GIF.
Good to know
Yes. It is free to use online with no account, and supported GIF conversion runs in your browser rather than sending the file to a conversion server.
No. The browser draws one rendered GIF frame to a canvas and exports one PNG still. It does not preserve animation, loop timing, or a frame sequence, and this route has no frame picker or frame-extraction tool.
The browser requests PNG encoding without a lossy quality setting, so the PNG is losslessly encoded from the pixels it decoded onto the canvas. It is not a byte-for-byte copy of the GIF and cannot recover detail, colors, or sharpness absent from the decoded image.
A PNG can retain alpha already present in the browser-decoded GIF pixels because this export is not flattened first. The tool does not remove backgrounds or create alpha, so an opaque GIF remains opaque.
Not necessarily. PNG size depends on the rendered pixels and PNG encoding, and a PNG can be larger than a compressed GIF. Review the downloaded file if a size limit matters.
You can queue up to 50 files, each under 50 MB. During browser rasterization, an image with more than 12 megapixels is rejected. Each successful file becomes its own PNG still download.
